Newy Fagan: A Retrospective Showcases a Lifetime of Art
Upcoming exhibit spans 50 years of Newy Fagan’s equine-influenced artwork.
Ocala, FL – A new exhibit, Newy Fagan: A Retrospective, explores over 53 years of art created by a pioneer in the kiln-formed glass art movement. The exhibit opens at the Marion Cultural Alliance’s Brick City Center for the Arts in Ocala on December 1, 2023 and runs thru December 30, 2023.
Artist Newy Fagan’s paintings, wood cut prints, clay sculptures, and kiln-formed glass are included in the exhibit which reflects her personal journey through various artistic mediums and her love of horses.
“Much of my work is equine oriented,” said Fagan. “I use horse imagery as a metaphor for freedom. To me, there is a spiritual connection between the horse and the human condition that is far older than the discovery of glass.” Growing up on a small Connecticut farm, Fagan taught art to kids, gave riding lessons, and boarded horses to afford her own art supplies and lessons.
Fagan studied fine arts at Southern Connecticut State University earning a B.S. in Art Education. After several years of teaching elementary school art, her artistic journey intersected with the rising stained-glass movement.

FREE admission to the gallery. Business hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10am-5pm, and Saturdays, 11am-4pm. Closed Sunday & Monday.
