MCA Call to Artists for Midsummer Dreams (June Exhibit)

Call to Artists: June/July 2024 | “Midsummer Dreams”

Description of Exhibit: MCA invites artist members to create and submit artworks that portray the enchanting ambiance of the Summer season. From colorful landscapes to dreamy beach scenes, our aim is to capture the essence of the season through a diverse range of art forms. By showcasing these works, MCA provides a platform for local artists to share their interpretations of Summer, while art enthusiasts and dreamers alike are transported to a world where reality and imagination blend seamlessly in the luminous glow of the season.

Medium requirements: We invite and encourage ALL artists in any medium to participate. Work can be 2D or 3D, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, textiles, photography, sculpture, pottery, collage, metalwork, fabrics, glass, wood, or stonework.

Who’s Eligible: MCA Artist Members (New members can join online at mcaocala.org/membership)

Entry Guidelines:

• All entries are to be submitted digitally to https://midsummerdreams.artcall.org no later than Monday, May 27 at midnight. No physical or mailed in submissions will be accepted. Artists must follow the online application process and include:
  • Artists’ Contact Info (Name, phone, address, email, and social media handles/website)
  • A brief statement for each submitted piece and how it relates to the exhibit theme
  • High-res images for each entry in JPG, PNG or PDF format showing the full piece
• Each artist may submit two (2) pieces for consideration. All work must be original; no giclee or reproductions. Only entries which adhere to the theme will be accepted. Suggested size per piece is up to 40“ in any direction. However, if 2D artwork is oversized, only one (1) submission will be considered.
• All 2D work must be gallery ready, properly wired with suitable hanging mechanisms to support its weight and framed, or created on a gallery wrapped canvas. All 3D work must be assembled by the artist before it is accepted.
• All work that is shown must be for sale, split 70% to the artist and 30% to MCA. MCA’s proceeds help further our mission to Champion, Convene and Create opportunities for the arts in Ocala/Marion.
• Selection of work is at the discretion of the Gallery Director & Gallery Committee. We reserve the right to reject work for the exhibition that does not meet MCA’s requirements or does not match the intent of the exhibit. • Deadline for Submissions: Monday, May 27, 2024 (by midnight)
• Status Notification: Friday, May 31, 2024 (by 6pm via ArtCall email)
• Exhibit Dates & Location: June 7 – July 6, 2024 | The Brick Gallery (23 SW Broadway St.)
• Drop Off Date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 (11am – 4pm) – or Saturday before (by appointment only!)
• Artists’ Reception*: Friday, June 7, 2024 (5 – 6pm) – *By invitation – for members, artists & friends only!
• Pick Up Date: Saturday, July 6 and/or Monday, July 8 (11am – 4pm) | The Brick Gallery
